5
How can I ensure that my website is listed within the first few entries on Google Search Engine?

This is not an easy task and cannot be done overnight. There are a number of techniques used by developers to try to increase the rankings of a webiste and there are a lot of businesses out there who will sell SEO products that are really just a big waste of time and money.

Increasing your ranking involves choosing the right keywords and adjusting your page title, meta tags and first paragraph to showcase them. Submitting your site to the major Search Engines and Indexes is critical. If you are starting a new site, we recommend you spend a few dollars on Google Adwords or a similar product as your web site will be added more quickly. Google also ranks sites that have links back to them higher than those who do not. (Meaning the more sites that link to yours, the higher your site will be categorized in a search return.) The amount of traffic your site receives is also a factor in your site's ranking.

The more competitors you have on the web, the more difficult it is to maintain a high ranking. And, since the statistics change daily, your site will need to change as well. SEO is a never ending job, new keywords will need to be added frequently.

PeachWeb.Bis can offer SEO support alone or as part of your Support Plan. How come some websites look different in Internet Explorer than they do in Firefox?

This is due to programming compatibility issues--and yes, incompatibilities are almost inevitable.

A simple web page is likely to display on all browsers without problems, but their appearance may differ slightly. A complex page or a web application may fail on some browsers if it is not properly coded and thoroughly tested.

PeachWeb.Biz is aware of these problems and codes websites in a way which avoids (or works around) most of them. We use CSS style sheets to ensure a robust, maintainable layout, and we test our sites on multiple browsers to be sure they work properly.

Do you provide Fixed Price Quotes or Time Based Billing?  Which is best for me?

The simple answer is this. We provide Fixed Price Quotes and feel that is best for the client.

Traditionally, Web Design and Development companies tend to use time-based billing practices. However, time-based billing has a number of significant drawbacks for their clients. For example, what happens if your project takes longer or requires more resources than the developer originally estimated? What happens if you want to add a new feature that was not included in the original design?

With time-based billing methods, there is no cap on your investment. If the developer has underestimated the resources needed to complete the project or if you need to make changes to the design, then your project costs can increase. This might not be too significant for very small projects, but for larger projects it might cause serious problems.

An simple site consisting of of 5 - 10 pages, with no complex programming required, including a new domain name, 1 year of Hosting and 2 months of Support will cost around $850.

We can provide the web consultancy necessary to help you determine what the programming and other requirements will be.
